Mountain Biking in Tsali

Sometimes the best vacations are spur of the moment. I had no idea what a great time would be had when I said, "let's go do Tsali this weekend".
Tsali is a recreational area in the Nantahala national forest in North Carolina, and is probably the best mtb locale in the South East. And it lives up to its reputation.

Jumps everywhere, and after all the brutal trails we practice on, Tsali was like a giant playground.

See my riding partner get airborne-Click for larger view.

We rarely stop to take pics on the trail, but this time we made the effort so we could share. You can't really tell he's airborne [above] but he is. Here, after about 10 miles, I show off my bike.

There are 5 trails in Tsali, which alternate days for hiking, biking, and horseback riding, to avoid collisions. And, there is a suggested route of travel, so odds of a head on crash are low. That's good. We did Thompson and Mouse loop, about 16 miles.

I highly recommend it, for the seasoned rider, it's just more fun if you know what you're doing. So, ride! Visit their website for more info, Tsali Recreation Area
